Hjalmar Inge Sunde is a Norwegian military officer born on December 29, 1937. He graduated from the Stavanger Handelsgymnasium in 1956 and the Norwegian Military Academy in 1960. Rising to the rank of lieutenant general by 1987, he served as Commander Allied Forces South Norway until 1991 and represented Norway in NATO. From 1995 to 2001, he was president of Norges Forsvarsforening and was the County Governor of Aust-Agder until his retirement in 2007. He has received several military decorations and was appointed a Commander of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav.
