Howard Kanovitz (February 9, 1929 – February 2, 2009) was an American painter known for his vibrant color palette and abstract compositions. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and later with Franz Kline in New York. In the early 1950s, Kanovitz's work evolved to include more colorful paintings, and after a trip to Europe, he began creating abstract compositions with an illusory sense of space. Influenced by photorealism in 1963, he started incorporating photography into his massive works, often depicting life-sized figures that resembled collages.
