Hranush Hakobyan is an Armenian politician recognized as the longest-serving woman in the National Assembly of Armenia and a former minister of diaspora affairs. She is one of seven members in the Armenian Parliament and was the first woman chosen by the Armenian people as a 'direct candidate' instead of being selected by a political party. In 2005, she strongly supported the 'Gender Quota Law' aimed at increasing the participation of Armenian women in politics.
