Irineu Popescu, born on March 12, 1952, is a former Romanian senator and deputy. He served in the Senate from 1992 to 1996 and in the Chamber of Deputies from 1996 to 2000, representing Dâmbovița County with the PNȚCD party. He was validated as a senator on September 3, 1996, replacing Emilian Buzică. Popescu was sentenced by the Pitești Court of Appeal to imprisonment and a fine of 3 million lei. During his tenure as deputy, he was part of the parliamentary friendship groups with Russia and Slovakia.
