Irvin 'Muskie' Robert Head was a Cree and Métis sculptor from Cranberry Portage, Manitoba. He was self-taught and began carving in the late 1990s, utilizing hand tools and various materials like wood, granite, and soapstone. His work gained international recognition, notably at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics where he created 'Grand Entry,' a sculpture of nine ravens. Head's final project, the Every Child Matters memorial, was unveiled at the Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre in Winnipeg on September 30, 2022. He was born on March 12, 1956, and passed away on August 15, 2022.
