J. Presper Eckert was an American electrical engineer and a pioneer in computing, best known for co-developing the ENIAC, the first general-purpose electronic digital computer, alongside John Mauchly. He also delivered the first course on computing topics at the Moore School, founded the Eckert-Mauchly Computer Corporation, and designed the UNIVAC, the first commercial computer in the United States, which utilized his innovation of mercury delay line memory.
