Jacques Abouchar was a French journalist and former war correspondent, born on February 1, 1931, in Paris and passed away on August 20, 2018, in Bayonne. Notably known for spending 40 days in Afghan prisons in 1984 during the Soviet-Afghan War, he was captured by Soviet troops while reporting on Afghan rebels. He later recounted his experience in his 1985 book 'La cage de l'Ours'. He began his career in the late 1950s at RTF and became a prominent reporter under ORTF and Antenne 2 by 1975.
