Jan Evangelista Urban was a prominent Czech theologian and philosopher of the 20th century. Born on February 20, 1901, in Prague, he became a Franciscan priest and was ordained in 1924. He founded the Institute of Sisters of the Apostolate and was involved in numerous religious and educational initiatives. Urban was imprisoned for 14 years after being falsely accused during a political trial. He returned to ministry in 1968 but faced restrictions and poor health. His works include multiple theological writings, influencing both clerical and lay communities.
