Jan Haanstra (circa March 1937 – June 4, 2006) was a Dutch politician of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). He served as an alderman in Alphen aan den Rijn from 1974 to 1981 and as the mayor of Stede Broec from 1981 until his retirement in 2002. He briefly continued in an acting capacity until 2003 due to municipal restructuring. Haanstra survived a shooting incident in 2001 but remained unscathed. He dealt with a tragic legionella outbreak in 1999 that resulted in 32 deaths. Haanstra passed away at the age of 69.
