Jean Delhaye was a French astronomer and science manager known for his contributions to stellar astronomy, astrometry, and the structure of the Milky Way. After earning his doctorate in 1950, he worked at the Paris Observatory until 1957, then led the Observatoire de Besançon until 1964. He returned to the Paris Observatory as its director from 1967 to 1971 and later directed the INAG until his retirement in 1987. He participated in significant projects like the Hipparcos satellite and the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope.
