Jean Siegfried was a Swiss neurosurgeon born in Geneva on February 24, 1931. He spent most of his career in Zurich, where he became a pioneer in stereotactic surgery. In the early 1960s, Siegfried began conducting experiments with stereotactic surgery at the University Hospital of Zurich, and he retired in 2001. His contributions to the field were recognized with the Otfrid Foerster Medal in 2003. He passed away on April 16, 2014.
