Jean Syrota, born on February 9, 1937, in Paris, is a prominent French civil servant and energy sector leader. He headed Cogema from 1988 to 1999 and is regarded as a key figure in the French nuclear industry. Serving as the head of the French Corps of Mines from 1993 to 1997, he is a strong advocate for nuclear energy and recognized as one of the ‘fathers’ of energy savings through the implementation of Daylight Saving Time. He has also been critical of EDF's policies, which he believes lead to energy wastage.
