Jerry Yellin was a United States Army Air Forces fighter pilot during World War II, famed for his participation in the Battle of Iwo Jima and for completing the final combat mission of the war against Japan. He later became notable for his efforts in promoting reconciliation with Japan and assisting veterans suffering from PTSD. An accomplished author, he published four books, including his autobiography. In 2014, he was honored by Texas Governor Rick Perry. A documentary about his life titled Jerry's Last Mission was released in 2021.
