He began drumming at 14 and served in the US Navy from 1954 to 1956 before studying at Lenoir Rhyne College. His career included performances with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and notable artists like Judy Garland and Etta James. He led the 7th Street Gator Band for 25 years and participated in 23 recording sessions between 1961 and 1987, contributing to various projects including Jackie Cain's album 'So Many Stars'. He passed away on March 9, 2013.
