Sir John "Jock" Cunningham Kirkwood Slater is a retired British admiral who served in the Royal Navy. He held several significant positions, including Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff from 1993 to 1995 and First Sea Lord from 1995 to 1998. After retiring, he was actively involved as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Imperial War Museum from 2001 to 2006.
