John Ellis was a British flying ace in the Royal Air Force during World War II, credited with at least 13 aerial victories. Born in Deal, he joined the RAF in 1936 and served in various squadrons. He notably participated in the Battle of Britain and later commanded operations from Malta. After being shot down in 1943, he was a POW until the war ended. Post-war, he held several administrative roles and retired as a group captain in 1967. Ellis passed away in 2001 at the age of 83.
