John Kirkbride, born on March 24, 1947, in Whitehaven, was a former British middle-distance runner who specialized in the 1500 meters. He represented England at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, finishing ninth, and won a silver medal at the Universiade. Kirkbride achieved a fourth-place finish at the 1971 European Athletics Championships in Helsinki. He also competed in the 1972 Munich Olympic Games but did not advance beyond the heats and placed tenth at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch.
