John Neumeier is an American dancer, choreographer, and director born in Milwaukee on February 24, 1939. He has served as the director and chief choreographer of Hamburg Ballet since 1973, and five years later he founded the Hamburg Ballet School, which includes a boarding school for students. Neumeier studied at the Royal Ballet School and danced with the Stuttgart Ballet from 1963 to 1969. He has created numerous successful works including 'Romeo and Juliet', 'The Nutcracker', and 'The Swan Lake'. His contributions have significantly influenced the world of ballet.
