John Stax, born John Edward Lee Fullagar on April 6, 1944, in Crayford, Kent, is an English musician renowned as the original bassist for the band The Pretty Things. He was active in the 1960s, contributing to hit singles and albums while also providing backing vocals and harmonica. After leaving the band in 1967, he emigrated to Australia and currently builds and sells cigar box guitars. Stax reunited with The Pretty Things for performances in 2012 and 2018 and was involved with the Melbourne R&B group Blues Hangover.
