Johan Aart (Joop) van der Schee is a Dutch geographer born on February 27, 1951, in Katwijk aan Zee. He has been associated with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam since graduating in 1977, where he held various positions, including a professor and head of teacher training. He became an emeritus professor of education geography in 2016. He has also taught at Utrecht University and served as a visiting professor in Rome. He received the Vethmedaille in 2017 for his contributions to geography education.
