Jordi Álvarez Garcia (1933-2017) was a notable Catalan climber known for his significant contributions to rock climbing in Montserrat during the 1950s. He was a member of the Club Esquí Puigmal and opened various climbing routes, most significantly the Puigmal route on Cavall Bernat in 1954. He innovated climbing safety by developing expansion pitons, enhancing safety in climbing. Álvarez also created a new steel image of the Moreneta, placed atop Cavall Bernat in 1987, after the original was stolen, and designed commemorative elements like a cross for the Gorra Frígia.
