Jorge Mester is a Mexican conductor and music educator born on April 10, 1935, in Mexico City. As a student at Juilliard, he studied under Jean Paul Morel, Leonard Bernstein, and Albert Wolff. Mester made his conducting debut with the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico in 1955 and later worked with prominent orchestras such as the Louisville Orchestra, Pasadena Symphony Orchestra, and the Naples Philharmonic. He is known for conducting over 200 world premieres and has influenced numerous musicians and conductors throughout his teaching career.
