Josep Gimeno i Capilla was a Catalan politician and social activist, born on January 5, 1933, in Barcelona. He joined the Joventut Obrera Catòlica at 16 and was heavily involved with the salesians and the Col·legi Martí Codolar. From 1969, he participated in the Centre Juvenil Salesià Martí Codolar football club, eventually becoming its president. As a neighborhood activist in Horta-Guinardó, he co-founded the Coordinadora Martí Codolar and led the neighborhood association La Teixonera from 1973 to 1985. He also served as a district councilor and received the Medalla d'Honor de Barcelona in 2003.
