Josef Gazda is a Czech Roman Catholic priest born on June 24, 1956, in Zlín. He studied at the Cyrilometodějská Theological Faculty in Litoměřice and was ordained a priest on June 27, 1987, in Olomouc. He served as a parish vicar in Karviná and Hlučín before becoming the pastor of Ostrava-Poruba in 1990. Gazda also became the dean of the Ostrava deanery in 2000. During his tenure, he oversaw the construction of three new churches and was appointed a papal chaplain by Pope Benedict XVI on August 26, 2006.
