Joseph C. Szabo is a former government official and the twelfth Federal Railroad Administrator of the United States, having served from 2009 to 2015. Nominated by President Barack Obama, he was confirmed by the Senate in April 2009. His administration focused heavily on safety within the railroad industry. Szabo stepped down from his position in January 2015, with Sarah Feinberg succeeding him as the Acting Administrator shortly thereafter.
