Joseph Doucé was a Belgian psychologist and defrocked Baptist pastor known for his contributions to the gay rights movement. He was born on April 13, 1945, in Sint-Truiden, Belgium and was openly gay. Doucé was a founding member of the International Lesbian and Gay Association and created the Centre du Christ Libérateur, which provided support for sexual minorities including homosexuals and transsexuals. He served as a volunteer soldier in NATO, where he enhanced his French language skills and began converting to Protestantism in the mid-1960s.
