Joseph Ponsetto was an American football player and starting quarterback for the University of Michigan Wolverines in 1944 and 1945. Under coach Fritz Crisler, he achieved an 8–2 record and a #8 AP Poll ranking in 1944, earning All-Big Ten honors. He captained the 1945 team, leading them to a 7–3 record and a #6 ranking. After knee surgery post-1945, he became a dentist and raised five children with his wife, Mary Blynn Manley. Ponsetto is remembered for his contributions on the field and in his community.
