After the war, he worked in various academic and museum-related positions in Wrocław, becoming the director of the Silesian Museum. Gębczak was instrumental in Polish museology, notably deciphering the Grundmann List. His contributions to art history and museum governance left a lasting legacy, culminating in a respected career in cultural heritage.
