His notable works include novels like 'Maya' and 'Guru,' for which he received prestigious awards, including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award and the Vayalar Award. Surendran's contributions to Malayalam literature include ten novels, four plays, and various other writings. He was honored with the Sahitya Academy Fellowship in 1997, shortly before his passing.
