Kari Juhani Takanen is a Finnish rear admiral, born on May 12, 1957, in Tampere. He served as the Chief of Defence Command in Finland from 2016 to 2017. Takanen graduated from the Cadet School in 1981, where he was the top cadet of his class. His career included roles such as aide-de-camp to the Commander of the Defence Forces and commander of the Archipelago Sea defence area. After his military career, he worked as a consultant for Saab JAS-39 NG in Finland's fighter acquisition.
