Karol Więckowski, also known as Zenon Stachula, was a Soviet officer and NKVD agent born on February 18, 1917, in Lviv. He worked in the Polish public security organs after World War II, primarily in Department V, which handled political parties and religious organizations. He held various positions within the MBP and was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta in 1946. In 1953, he became the director of Department XI, focusing on combating the Catholic Church, later joining the Committee for Public Safety.
