Karsten Obarski, also known by the pseudonym Obi, is a German born on May 11, 1965. He developed the Ultimate Soundtracker for the Amiga, the first tracker-style music production program for computers in 1987. Frustrated with programming music manually, Obarski designed an interface that allowed non-programmers to create music. The Ultimate Soundtracker featured a vertical presentation of four channels and was inspired by requests for music in an Arkanoid-style game. His work influenced computer music production until he moved on to electronics in the 1990s.
