Kei Kurube, born in May 1967, is a Japanese director and producer affiliated with NHK. He hails from Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. Kurube graduated from Rakunan High School and then from the Faculty of Letters at Kyoto University, where he was part of the Sotobakomachi Theater Company. He joined NHK in 1991, worked in various departments, and became the Chief Producer of the Drama Section in 2013. His wife is actress Hikari Ishida.
