Keiko Shiba is a Japanese historian born on February 18, 1937, in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. She specializes in early modern Japanese history and women's history. After a nine-year break post-high school, she entered Waseda University, where she eventually completed her thesis, which was published as a book: 'Women of the Edo Period: The Spiritual Lives of Women in Feudal Society.' At 80, she moved to Kakegawa City in Shizuoka Prefecture and continues to lead study groups.
