David Joseph Popejoy, born on February 15, 1972, is a retired American hammer thrower who competed at the 1996 Olympic Games and the 1997 World Championships, though he did not reach the finals in either event. He achieved his personal best throw of 74.26 meters in June 1996 in Atlanta. Throughout his career, he competed alongside his close friend Kevin McMahon, who also participated in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics.
