He served as the Prime Minister of the newly independent Republic of Armenia from July 30, 1992, to February 2, 1993, during a crucial period of nation-building. Harutyunyan also held the position of Chairman of the National Assembly, playing a significant role in shaping the country's legislative framework during its early years of independence.
