Konstantin Petrovich Feoktistov was a prominent Soviet cosmonaut and aerospace engineer born on February 7, 1926. He participated in the historic Voskhod 1 mission in 1964, known as the first multi-person space flight. During World War II, he served as a scout for the Soviet army at the age of 16, was captured by German forces, and escaped after pretending to be dead. Feoktistov later earned a doctorate-equivalent degree and contributed significantly to the Soviet space program, designing spacecraft and equipment, while also authoring several books on space technology and exploration.
