Leif Karlborg (1931-2018) founded the lifesaving school, Livräddningsstationen, in Tylösand in 1960, the only non-profit lifesaving school in the Nordic region. He was previously the safety officer for all divisions of the Swedish Lifesaving Society and managed the Tylösand school until 2014 when he passed the role to his son, Peter. His commitment to lifesaving has earned him honorary citizenship in Halmstad, and he was nominated for the Swedish Hero Gala in 2011.
