Liivi Aarma is an Estonian historian born on February 10, 1948, in Raikküla, Harjumaa. She graduated from Raikküla 8-class school in 1963 and Rapla Secondary School in 1966. Aarma obtained her degree in history from the University of Tartu in 1971. She worked as a researcher at the Estonian Academy of Sciences' Institute of History from 1971 to 1992 and has been a lecturer at Tallinn Pedagogical University (now Tallinn University) since 1993. She became an honorary member of the Estonian Genealogy Society in 2010.
