Lucjan Zygmunt Szczepański was a reserve lieutenant of the Polish Army, born on February 8, 1908, in Kępno. He became a victim of the Katyń massacre, an event in which thousands of Polish military officers were executed by the Soviet secret police during World War II. Szczepański is remembered for his service and sacrifice during a tumultuous period in Polish history. His date of death is noted as 1940 in Kharkiv, where many of the executions took place.
