He participated in the evacuation program known as the 'children of the war' during the Spanish Civil War, which inspired his acclaimed book 'El otro árbol de Guernica', winning the National Literature Prize in 1967. His works extended to cinema adaptations and included recognition such as the Fastenrath Prize and a finalist position for the Planeta Prize in 1970.
