Mahmoud Younis was an Egyptian engineer known for his pivotal role in the nationalization and management of the Suez Canal following its takeover. He was born on April 11, 1911, in the Sayyida Zaynab district of Cairo. His father, Ahmed Younis, was a railway employee. He began his education at the Quran school of Sheikh Mahmoud, progressed to primary school at Mohamed Ali School in 1924, and completed his studies at the Khedive School, obtaining his diploma in 1928 and baccalaureate in 1930.
