Maliheh Afnan was a Palestinian artist born on March 24, 1935, in Haifa. She had Iranian Bahá'í heritage but was not part of the Bahá'í community. After moving to Beirut in 1949, she pursued her education at the American University of Beirut and received a master's degree in fine arts from the Corcoran College of Art and Design. Afnan spent significant time living in Kuwait, Beirut, Paris, and London, with her works featured in prestigious museums. Her first solo exhibition was at the Basel Art Fair in 1971. Afnan passed away in London on January 6, 2016.
