He is best known for his discovery of the chemotherapeutic agents Paclitaxel and Camptothecin in collaboration with Monroe E. Wall during the 1960s. Wani received his education from the University of Bombay and earned his PhD from Indiana University in 1962. Over his career, he published over 200 papers and held 36 patents, earning several prestigious awards for his contributions to cancer research.
