Marek Švehla is a Czech journalist born on December 25, 1966, in Jindřichův Hradec. He grew up in Třeboň and studied at a high school, followed by agricultural mechanization at the Czech University of Life Sciences. Active in journalism since 1994 at Respekt, he served as the editor-in-chief from 2005 to 2006 and is currently the deputy editor-in-chief. In 2017, he authored a biography of Ivan Martin Jirous, which won the Lidové noviny Book of the Year award. The following year, it received the DILIA Litera award for discovery of the year.
