Margaret Forster (May 25, 1935 - February 8, 2016) was an English novelist, biographer, memoirist, historian, and literary critic. She gained recognition with her novel 'Georgy Girl' in 1965, which was adapted into a successful film that grossed over $7 million in America and more than $6 million internationally. She also inspired a popular song by a band at that time. Forster is known for other notable works, including 'Diary of an Ordinary Woman' and biographies of figures like Daphne du Maurier and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, as well as her memoirs 'Hidden Lives' and 'Precious Lives'.
