Maria Parol (née Kosińska) was a Polish lieutenant, social and political activist born on January 31, 1911, in Horodence. She graduated with a law degree from the University of Jan Kazimierz in Lviv. After being arrested by the Soviets during World War II, she served in the Auxiliary Military Service Women. Post-war, she lived in exile in the UK, engaging in community and political life, sitting on the National Council and serving as the secretary-general of the Polish Farmers' Union. She passed away in London in 1986.
