Marie Roumy was a French and later Cameroonian religious sister dedicated to social service. Born on January 14, 1924, in La Charité-sur-Loire, France, she moved to the impoverished neighborhoods of Douala, Cameroon. There, she focused on improving sanitation and establishing essential services such as schools and hospitals. Additionally, she created training centers, shelters for prostitutes, and a cooperative to help young people find jobs. Roumy also founded the Chain of Saint-Nicodème Homes, which provided care for street children. She passed away on February 23, 2013, in Douala.
