Marília Chaves Peixoto (February 24, 1921 - January 5, 1961) was a Brazilian mathematician renowned for her contributions to mathematical analysis. Born in Santana do Livramento, she studied engineering and mathematics, becoming the first woman in Brazil to obtain a doctorate in mathematics. Chaves Peixoto was also an early female member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. Throughout her career, she published significant works, including a successful book on vector calculus, and co-introduced the study of structural stability of dynamic systems in Brazil.
