Born on January 23, 1911, he served in the Kansas Army National Guard before joining the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Leading troops in multiple significant battles, including Sicily and Normandy, he demonstrated remarkable bravery, earning him the Silver Star for gallantry in action. After being seriously injured, he was promoted to colonel but could not continue his military career due to his wounds. He passed away on May 21, 2004.
